NORTH MANCHESTER - Members of The North Manchester Board of Zoning Appeals Monday approved two variance requests - one for a porch addition and the other for a free-standing sign.
Margaret Roberts, 1405 N. Market St., North Manchester, requested a variance to reduce her front property setback from 30 feet to 26 feet.
The reduction will permit a porch addition on Roberts' home. Roberts said the porch will be 8 feet wide by 24 feet long with a wood floor. She also said it will not be enclosed.
Building Commissioner Bernie Ferringer said Roberts' house sits closer to the road than all the other houses in the area, and "it does meet the setback requirements."
"Personally, I don't have a problem with the porch," Ferringer said.
Naragon and Purdy CPA, 102 N. Heeter St., North Manchester, requested a variance to reduce the front setback from 20 feet to 6 feet for a free-standing sign.
Dan Naragon said the sign will be 4 feet high by 7 feet long and will be constructed of the same brick as the building. "It will be ground lit from both sides," he said.
Both requests were approved.
