Manchester Man Injured In Fire

NORTH MANCHESTER - A North Manchester man is in critical condition after being rescued from his burning home Tuesday morning. A neighbor spotted the fire and called for help.

Duane Grogg was found in the bathroom of his residence at 602 N. Front St. in North Manchester. He suffered second-degree burns to his face and hands as well as smoke inhalation. He was stabilized at the scene before being airlifted to Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne. Officials this morning said Grogg was in critical condition.

North Manchester Fire Department crews were on the scene at 10:02 a.m., one minute after receiving the 911 call. The cause of the fire was ruled accidental by the State Fire Marshal's Office. Also assisting in the investigation was Squad 85, Wabash County's fire investigation team.

Damage was estimated at $4,500.
