WHITLEY COUNTY - A 42-year-old North Manchester man is dead following a car-buggy accident early Sunday morning in Whitley County.
Stephen E. Jannings, 42, of North Manchester, was driving on Ind. 205, south of CR 350S, in Whitley County around 4 a.m. Sunday when his vehicle hit a horse-drawn buggy that crossed the center line. Jannings was pronounced dead at 4:08 a.m. Sunday.
The occupants of the buggy, who has not been identified, were transported for treatment from the scene of the accident. One occupant was airlifted to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, in critical condition. The other buggy occupant was transported to Parkview Hospital by ambulance in an unknown condition.
The accident remains under investigation by the Whitley County Sheriff's Department.
