Manchester Looks At Graduates' Preparedness

Posted

NORTH MANCHESTER -ÊNancy Alspaugh, Manchester High School principal, sent 220 letters to last year's graduates surveying how high school had prepared them for life.

Surveys were sent with an addressed, prepaid return envelope.

Only 72 of the 220 letters were returned, said Alspaugh, Tuesday, to the school board. She was hoping for at least a 50 percent rate of return but reached only 33 percent.

The survey found that half of the graduates are working in full-time employment and more than half are furthering their education.

While attending Manchester High School, 92 percent of graduates said they felt safe at school.

Almost 95 percentÊof responders said at least one staff member cared and/or was concerned about them.

More than 90 percent of responders were satisfied with their high school education and said they felt prepared for life after high school.

Another question found that 93 percent of responders participated in extracurricular activities in high school.
