Manchester Library Gets Technology Grant

Posted

North Manchester Public Library is one of 110 libraries recently receiving technology grants awarded by the Indiana State Library.

The grant will provide funds to set up the local area network needed to complete the library's public access Internet connection.

Library director Davonne Rogers said most of the work will be done by the end of June. She said the library is also receiving computer equipment funded by an earlier state grant that will provide for the 56K connection line.

More than $1 million in state and federal grants was awarded this month as the third part of technology grants for fiscal year 1996-97. Seventy percent of Indiana's public libraries will have Internet access for the public as a result of these grants and local contributions.
