FORT WAYNE – Manchester’s girls golf team opened the school’s 2015-16 athletic year with a seventh place finish in the Homestead Invitational in Fort Wayne Monday. The Lady Squires shot a 440 for the tourney, eight shots behind East Noble. Leo won the tournament with a 343. Kelsey Eichenauer paced Manchester with a 104, followed by Madyson Ulrey at 107 and Lydia Little’s 109. Leiah Brandenburg carded a 121, and Rachel Cave a 141. “It was a decent start for our season this year,” said head coach Joshua Troyer via e-mail. “We had some great rounds and 9-hole scores from our freshman. Our returners got to play with some great golfers, and it took them some time to adjust but I am excited to see how that experience benefits them later in the year. Our girls got a great opportunity to see where we want our program to grow to and I cannot wait to continue this journey with them Wednesday.” Manchester plays at the Huntington North Invitational beginning at 9 a.m. tomorrow.
