Manchester Girls Basketball Team Drubs Peru For Third Win Of Season

PERU - Holding host Peru to 16 points in the second half, Manchester's varsity girls basketball team picked up a 60-40 win Wednesday night.

The 20-point win improved the Squires to 3-13 on the year, while Peru fell to 0-14.

"This was a great win for the girls," second-year Manchester coach Mark Underwood said. "We put four complete quarters together on both ends of the floor. The girls were alert, focused and got after it physically for a full 32 minutes. I'm so proud of these kids. They refuse to quit working hard. They are a relentless bunch."

Manchester led 33-24 at halftime and then outscored the host Tigers 27-16 in the second half.

Junior Britt Rager scored a game-high 28 points for Manchester, while sophomore Megan Hoch added 11. Megan Sharp scored 10 to lead Peru.

The Squires are in action again Saturday at Three Rivers Conference opponent Oak Hill.

Wednesday in Warsaw

Warsaw's varsity gymnastics team picked up its first win of the season Wednesday evening, downing visiting Northern Lakes Conference opponent Elkhart Memorial 86.6-74.45. Andrea Calhoun led the Tigers to the win, finishing second in the all-around competition. The Tigers are in action again Saturday in the Valpo Invitational.
