Manchester Ends Regular Season With Win; Triton Loses

WABASH — The Manchester football team wrapped up its regular season on a three-game winning streak Friday at Northfield. Closing out its regular season with a Three Rivers Conference game at Northfield, the Manchester Squires came out on top 24-14. Manchester entered the fourth quarter down 14-9, but then the offense came around. First, quarterback Jim Sainsbury gave Manchester the lead when he hit Dan Griese for a nine-yard touchdown. Sainsbury then hit Gunner Ream on the two-point conversion, giving Manchester a 16-14 lead with 9:29 remaining. Sainsbury then sealed the win with a one-yard touchdown run with 1:55 remaining. Also in the win, Thad Miller converted an extra point and a 24-yard field goal, while Jacob Casper scored a 21-yard touchdown in the second quarter. The win leaves Manchester at 4-5 going into this Friday’s sectional game at North Judson-San Pierre. Closing out their regular season at Class 3A No. 1 Jimtown, the Triton football team fell 49-14. The win wraps up Jimtown’s record at 7-0 in Northern State Conference play, delievering the Jimmies the championship. Up next for the 1-8 Trojans is this Friday’s sectional game at Adams Central.
