Manchester Drops Close Tennis Match To Peru

PERU – In what may have been a match to decide the Three Rivers Conference boys tennis championship, Peru edged visiting Manchester 3-2 Wednesday.
Squire senior Max Karg won his opening set at No. 1 singles in six games, then edged Brandon Bates 7-5 in the second set to take the match. The No. 1 doubles team of Noah Cain and Matthew Pegg lost just one game in their straight-set win.
The loss drops Manchester to 2-2 on the year, and 1-1 in the TRC. The Squires host Bluffton Tuesday afternoon.

Triton fell to 2-4 on the season, and 1-2 in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference, after its 4-1 home loss to Knox Wednesday afternoon.
Mace Eads was the lone winner for the Trojans, taking his No. 2 singles match over Saquoya Edler 6-4, 6-4.
Triton’s next match will be Tuesday when they host laVille in HNAC play.

Wednesday in South Whitley
Whitko’s Lady Cats lost its first ever Three Rivers Conference match 3-1 to Rochester Wednesday afternoon.  Sophomore keeper Stephanie Baughman posted 10 saves for the Lady Wildcats. Sophomore Quinn Craig scored her first career goal assisted by junior Abby Overmeyer. Whitko will host Maconaquah on Saturday.

Wednesday in Bremen
The Tippecanoe Valley girls golf team won one and lost one in a three-way match with Bremen and Triton at Sprig O’Mint Golf Course near Bremen. Bremen had a score of 202 to Valley’s 231 and Triton’s 278.
Bremen’s Sara Knepper was the medalist with a 49, while Valley was led by Liz VanMeter’s 52.
Valley is right back at it today when they host Whitko, Manchester and North Miami in Three Rivers Conference play at Mill Creek-round Barn Golf Course in Rochester.

Manchester won easily, 210-275, over non-conference foe Triton in a girls golf match at Rozella Ford on Tuesday.
Lydia Little was the medalist for Manchester, carding a 48. Kayla Kreft’s 58 was the low score for Triton.
Manchester will take on Three Rivers Conference schools Whitko, North Miami and host Tippecanoe Valley on Thursday. Triton will take  on Valley and host Bremen this afternoon.
