Manchester Council Approves Wastewater Project Contracts

NORTH MANCHESTER – At Wednesday night's meeting, the North Manchester Town Council approved multiple contracts for the upcoming wastewater improvement project, including a $3,073,539 contract with Commonwealth Engineering and a Baker Tilly financing service contract not to exceed $126,000.
Council also approved a contract with JPR (Jones Petrie Rafinski) of South Bend not to exceed $236,000 for the Manchester Mile project.
Guests included Cynthia Johnson of the Learn More Center, who provided an annual update, and Zach Benedict, who presented the final draft of North Manchester's downtown revitalization plan.
In other business, council:
• Approved a one-time alcohol allowance for Hispanic Heritage Day at Warvel Park on Sept. 12.
• Heard a $10,000 funding request from the Wabash County Diversity Coalition.
• Voted to purchase six SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) units for the fire department.
• Reappointed Mike Leckrone to the North Manchester Public Library board of trustees.
There was a town docket of $639,530.55 and a utilities docket of $258,118.87.
Fireworks will be on July 4, with a rain date of July 5.
Council will next meet at 7 p.m. July 2.
