Manchester College Presents 'Wandering In The Wonders Of Science'

Posted
NORTH MANCHESTER - Manchester College elementary education students present "Wandering in the Wonders of Science" on Oct. 13, when area youngsters get to be scientists - in the college's Science Center.

All area fourth- and fifth-graders are invited to the free event.

The morning of science is action-packed with paths to the various sciences. Manchester's elementary education majors will share their excitement with science with live, interactive demonstrations, fun team-building activities, science literature, outdoor and hands-on science trails and on-line "Webquests."

"My science trail is all about ants," said senior elementary education major Danielle Moeller, New Haven. "At the beginning, we will read the book 'Magic School Bus Gets Ants in Its Pants,' which tells all about ants. Then we will use magnifying glasses to look at ants, put together cutouts of ants, look at an ant farm I've created, with the last stop a picnic set-up, where the kids can draw pictures of the foods they think the ants will eat."

Any fourth- or fifth-grader is welcome, as well as whole classes. Registration deadline is Oct. 5. Contact Stacy Stetzel in the Manchester College Department of Education, 260-982-5421.
