Manchester Beats Northfield For 10th Straight Win

NORTH MANCHESTER – Led by a trio of double-figure scorers, Manchester’s varsity boys basketball team extended its win steak to 10 games.
Getting 24 points from Chase Fierstos, 17 from Koehl Fluke and 14 from Chainey Zolman, the Squires hosted and defeated Three Rivers Conference opponent Northfield 70-58 Friday night.
With the 12-point win, Manchester is now 13-5 overall and 5-1 in the TRC, while Northfield fell to 7-9 and 3-2.
The Squires trailed 11-7 after one quarter of play, but outscored the Norsemen 13-9 in the second quarter and 24-12 in the third.
Tanner Wilcox led Northfield with 16 points, while Adam Shear added 14 and Adam Roser 12.
Manchester is in action again tonight when it hosts Peru.

The Whitko Wildcats scored their first Three Rivers Conference win of the season, beating the host North Miami Warriors 62-58.
Nate Walpole scored 28 points for Whitko, while Devon Adkins and River West chipped in with 12 points each.
The Wildcats are now 6-12 overall and 1-5 in the TRC, while North Miami fell to 2-15 and 0-6.
Whitko hosts Fairfield today in non-conference action.

Lakeland Christian’s varsity boys basketball team remains winless after a 90-45 loss at Lakewood Park Christian.
The Cougars are now 0-17 on the season, while Lakewood Park improved to 4-12.

Friday in Lakeville
Powered by a balanced scoring attack and a big first-half lead, Triton’s varsity girls basketball team beat Northern State Conference foe LaVille 58-37.
Kylie Mason and Jaela Meister scored 14 points each in the win, while Becca Kennedy added 12 points and Hanna Wanemacher and Lauren Hostrawser scored nine and six points, respectively.
Class 1A No. 7 Triton led 17-7 after one quarter of play and 31-13 at halftime.
Triton held the Lady Lancers to 21 points through the first 24 minutes of action.
With the win, Triton is now 15-7 overall and 5-2 in the NSC, while LaVille fell to 8-13 and 1-6.
McKenzie Leed led LaVille with a game-high 17 points, while Lucy Zeiger and Aryn Each chipped in with eight and six points, respectively.
Triton is in action again Friday in Sectional 51 at Oregon-Davis. The Lady Trojans will play the winner of Tuesday’s game between Culver and South Cental.

Wawasee’s varsity girls basketball team closed the regular season with a 42-30 loss at Northern Lakes Conference foe Northridge.
The Lady Warriors led 12-10 after one quarter of play but scored just two points in the second quarter and only 18 points in the final three quarters combined.
Kylee Rostochak scored 24 of Wawasee’s 30 points, while Aubrey Schmeltz scored the other six.
With the loss, Wawasee fell to 6-16 overall and 1-6 in the NLC, while Northridge improved to 17-7 and 4-3.
Wawasee will be in action again Wednesday when it hosts Lakeland in Class 3A Sectional 21.
Northridge opens Sectional 4 action at Goshen Tuesday against Warsaw.
