NORTH MANCHESTER – On Wednesday, the North Manchester Town Council reviewed a final plat for the Chester Heights project and approved street closures for the “Home for the Holidays” parade.
Town manager Adam Penrod reported completion of excavation and sewer/water installation on the Chester Heights project, and road work will begin soon. Other road work in town, including along Wayne Street, is ongoing. As the crew is still digging up 3 to 4 inches of concrete along Wayne, Penrod estimates paving should begin by the end of next week, weather permitting.
“By the end [of the project], it’ll be a nice, new road,” he said.
The council approved street closures from Sycamore to Front Street for four hours Nov. 22 to allow for the Manchester ALIVE’s “Home for the Holidays” activities.
Using bid assistance, a new truck for the parks department will be purchased from local dealer Shepherd’s Chevrolet. As director Jennifer Hotchkiss attested, the current 2000 Chevrolet needed to be replaced. Leaf pickup in town continues as the crew moves west of Market Street.
As presented by Clerk-treasurer Carrie Mugford, the utilities docket was $171,070.53 and the town docket was $358,295.68.
