An alleged suicidal man with a gun was taken into custody Wednesday night at his ex-wife's Warsaw residence.
Ronald Wayne Harris, 39, of 1404 Meadowlark Blvd., Warsaw, is being held without bond on a charge of invasion of privacy. Kathy Jo Harris, Oriole Lane, Warsaw, has a restraining order against him and he is not supposed to be on her property.
Eleven police units from the city, county, state and Winona Lake departments responded to the call. When officers arrived, they began setting up a perimeter around the house because Mr. Harris was still inside with his 14-year-old son. Mrs. Harris and two other children had fled to a neighbor's home to call police. Harris was reportedly in her home with a gun to his head.
Shortly after police arrived, Harris and his son came out of the house. Harris was getting on his mo-ped and had his back to police when officers moved in and took him into custody. A handgun was confiscated from his rear pocket.
After being handcuffed and placed in the back seat of a squad car, Harris reportedly began hitting his head on the window of the vehicle. When he refused to stop, police sprayed him with pepper spray and he then cooperated. He was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for decontamination from the spray and to have a blood test because police believed he was intoxicated. The results of the test showed a blood-alchol level of .21 percent.
Harris was then booked into the Kosciusko County Jail.
