Man Struck in Arm While Directing Traffic

Posted
A Mentone man was struck in downtown Warsaw while directing traffic following the Joe Diffie concert Friday night.
Robert J. Hurt, Mentone, was directing traffic as a KEMRAD unit at the intersection of Indiana and Main streets after the concert when he was struck in the arm by a Ford Expedition driven by Richard K. Milburn, 20, Winona Lake.
Milburn was westbound on Main Street trying to read street signs and did not see Hurt or the illuminated wand signaling him to stop. Hurt had been looking west to ensure traffic from that direction was also stopped for crossing pedestrians.
Both immediately went to the parking lot of Warsaw Fire Station 1, which is located at that intersection.
Hurt was examined on scene by paramedics but declined medical transport.
Damages were reported to be less than $750. Warsaw Police Department responded as well.
