An arrest warrant was issued today for a man police believe was involved in a fight with Warsaw officer David Morales Saturday night.

Police are seeking Francis Charles Hamilton, 30, of 722 N. Cook St., Warsaw. The warrant charges resisting arrest and fleeing law enforcement.

Kosciusko County Sheriff Al Rovenstine said today that police received information from residents in the community that the suspect had bruises and cuts to his face.

The injuries were consistent with those that would have occurred during the fight with Morales, he said.

Morales located a suspect matching Hamilton's description Saturday night after responding to a call in the Valley Springs subdivision.

The caller stated that a man had been in his shed and looked through a kitchen window. There were two prior reports of a suspicious person in the area shortly before.

Morales spotted a man in a corn field in the area and attempted to apprehend him. The fight ensued and the man escaped, but Morales gained a good description of the suspect during the encounter.

Police said Hamilton is wanted only in connection with the fight with Morales.

The warrant does not charge Hamilton with any offenses related to the incidents in Valley Springs. Police also said they have no reason to believe Hamilton was involved in the recent string of "Bicycle Bandit" burglaries in the area.
