A man was flown to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, in serious condition Monday after his tractor flipped and pinned him underneath. Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Multi-Township EMS and Warsaw/Wayne Fire Territory all responded around 3:45 p.m. Monday to a report of farm accident at 226 West CR 300S, Warsaw, according to a press release from KCSD. Winona Lake Fire Department arrived on scene first and found the man, identified as Gene Denz, 35, pinned underneath a small utility farm tractor. Emergency personnel used a hydraulic floor jack to lift a portion of the tractor off Denz. He was immediately airlifted to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, in serious condition with injuries throughout his legs and torso. An initial investigation into the incident determined Denz had apparently been using a strap attached to the tractor to pull on a small tree or bush on his property and as he accelerated, the tractor proceeded to roll and flip backwards, pinning him underneath. As of Tuesday morning, Denz had been discharged from Lutheran Hospital.
