SILVER LAKE - A Silver Lake man was jailed Sunday afternoon after trying to elude conservation officers checking for fishing licenses.
Eric Ray Smallwood, 29, of 10182 S. Edgewater Drive, Silver Lake, was fishing near his home when conservation officers were doing routine fishing license checks.According to a DNR official, Smallwood dove into a marshy area when conservation officers tried to check his license.
After getting out of the lake, Smallwood led officers on a half-mile pursuit before finally being caught.
Smallwood was booked into Kosciusko County Jail on a charge of resisting/fleeing law enforcement and held on a $500 bond.
According to the DNR official, Smallwood was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. Smallwood also had outstanding warrants for his arrest, according to an official at the Kosciusko County Jail.
