A Silver Lake man who tried to run from police was caught and arrested Thursday afternoon near Diamond Lake.

According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Michael Ryan Nelson was arrested on an outstanding warrant Thursday afternoon after a citizen's tip led police to him at a residence at Diamond Lake.

Kosciusko County Sheriff's Deputy Dalis Owens responded to the call around 11:30 a.m. After checking the residence, Owens reportedly saw Nelson running through a field northwest of the property.

County officers set up a perimeter and K-9 units were used to track Nelson. Around 2:46 p.m., officers from the Kosciusko County Drug Task Force found Nelson and his brother near the intersection of CRs 850S and 600W.

Nelson, 22, of 5306 W. Warren Avenue, Silver Lake, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 3:26 p.m. on one count of burglary, a Class B felony, and one count of resisting/fleeing law enforcement. His bond was set at $10,500.
