Man Facing Two Level 1 Felony Child Molesting ChargesA Warsaw man is facing two felony child molesting charges after he was allegedly caught having sex with a minor.

Yeri Lucas Gomez, 22, of 340 E. Levi Lee Road, lot 203, Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 2:48 p.m. Jan. 29 and is facing two Level 1 felony child molesting charges.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Tuesday in Kosciusko Superior Court I, on Jan. 16 Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home in reference to an unwanted individual.

Upon arrival, police spoke with a person who said she arrived home and found a man in a child’s bedroom and that the child was nude from the waist down, according to court papers.

The woman told police that the man, later identified as Gomez, then pushed her against a wall and ran past her out the door. However, family members followed Gomez to an address on East Levi Lee Road and provided police with a physical description.

According to the affidavit, police went to that location and found Gomez. Gomez provided police with identification that showed he was 22 years of age.

When a forensic interview was conducted with the child, according to court papers, she said they had sex in her room and described another incident where they had intercourse at his residence. The child further told police that Gomez knew how old she was.

When police spoke with Gomez, according to the affidavit, he admitted to having sex with the child.

According to court papers, as Gomez was being taken to jail, he made statements about “leaving the country and traveling to Guatemala where he already had a spot picked out.”

Gomez’s bond was set at $15,250, and a no-contact order was issued.
