A yard work accident left a 77-year-old Warsaw man, Masaru David Takamori, dead Monday. Takamori was cutting down a tree in his Willow Lane yard when he apparently fell 20 feet from an extension ladder, fracturing his skull and neck.
Takaromi was found at 7:38 p.m. after a Columbia City woman reported what she believed to be a dead body lying near the Cardinal Center. Police arrived at the scene and found Takaromi with a chainsaw in hand, lying next to a twisted metal extension ladder and a large tree limb.
A neighbor, Betty Nyenhuis, is the last person known to have contact with Takamori. Nyenhuis talked with Takamori Friday and told police that he spoke of cutting down a large tree in his yard. She said she thought the job was too difficult for him.
Nyenhuis last saw Takamori Sunday, around 2 p.m., doing yard work.
