A 27-year-old Warsaw man was jailed Tuesday for allegedly raping a 17-year-old mildly mentally retarded girl.
Brian Curtis Poliquin of 230 S. Roosevelt St., Warsaw, is charged with rape with deadly force and criminal deviate conduct. He is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on $10,000 bond.
Poliquin allegedly had sexual intercourse with the teen at her rural Warsaw residence April 21 after he went to check on the home at the request of the girl's mother. The mother was apparently concerned about another man causing damage to the property and asked Poliquin to make sure everything was OK.
The incident is alleged to have occurred between noon and 4 p.m. April 21. The teen told police Poliquin had a knife with him at the time, but did not threaten her with it.
The matter was investigated by the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.
