An unidentified man attempted to rob the McClure's Gas Station on Center Street, Warsaw, Saturday night.
The clerk at the gas station told police a suspect entered the building around 9:32 p.m. and pointed a pistol-type crossbow at the clerk.
The suspect allegedly told the clerk, "This is a holdup. Give me all your money."
The clerk told police the man then put the crossbow close to the clerk's face, with the arrow touching his forehead. When the suspect shoved the arrow closer, the clerk said he instinctively raised his arms to protect himself.
When he raised his arms, the clerk hit the crossbow and knocked it out of the suspect's hands. The ski mask that the suspect was wearing fell off his head, and he ran out of the store, the clerk reported.
Warsaw police used a K-9 unit to follow the suspect's trail across the parking lot to a dumpster behind a nearby business. Police reported they then lost the trail.
Warsaw police are continuing their investigation.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male age 18-20, with short black hair, wearing blue jeans, a green/black plaid long-sleeve shirt and white tennis shoes. His crossbow and ski mask were taken as evidence by police.
The clerk was treated by emergency personnel at the scene for lacerations on his forehead.
