A Syracuse man was arrested New Year's Eve afternoon after he blew twice the legal limit at a drunk driving hearing.
According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Richard Alan Eyer, 54, of 726 E. Northshore Drive, Syracuse, was on hand for a hearing in Superior Court III Thursday afternoon.
Eyer was arrested Dec. 17 on two counts of driving while intoxicated.
After suspecting Eyer may be intoxicated, attorney Douglas Fahl asked for a sheriff's deputy to administer a breathalyzer to Eyer.
Eyer claimed he hadn't drank since Wednesday.Deputy Dalis Owens administered a portable breath test on Eyer after waiting 20 minutes and the test came back with a blood alcohol content of .16. The legal limit in Indiana is .08.
Eyer was booked into Kosciusko County jail on a charge of public intoxication and his bond was set at $300.
