A Warsaw man was arrested and charged with, among other things, resisting/fleeing law enforcement, after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase early Friday morning.
According to a report filed at the Warsaw Police Department, Justin Michael Lewallen was operating a four-wheeler at a high rate of speed when an officer observed him disregard the stop light at the intersection of Parker Street and U.S. 30 in Warsaw around 1:12 a.m. Friday.
Lewallen then allegedly led police on a chase through the Kosciusko Community Hospital campus area.
The pursuit then continued on to Warsaw Missionary Baptist Church, where the four-wheeler went into a cornfield west of the church.
Lewallen eventually crossed Springhill Road, then went into the property of the Bowen Center Inpatient Unit.
At some point, Lewallen allegedly hit a culvert, causing him and his passenger to be thrown from the vehicle.
Lewallen and a passenger Kerry L. Kern, 23, Syracuse, were both held in police custody.
Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department deputy James Marshall filed a report the day prior that the four-wheeler Lewallen was driving was stolen.
Police stated Lewallen was in possession of what is believed to be Xanax, a schedule IV controlled substance.
Lewallen was arrested for driving while suspended, resisting/fleeing law enforcement, possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving and possession of stolen property.
Charges for driving while intoxicated involving an accident with injury are pending toxicology results.
