LEESBURG - A Portland man was injured Tuesday afternoon in an accidental shooting at his Leesburg summer home.
William Tullis, 64, also of EMS T25B Lane, told police that he accidentally shot himself in the leg while loading a .22-caliber revolver with birdshot.
According to a Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department report, Tullis was sitting outside the residence at a fire ring when the 2 p.m. accident occurred.
Tullis told police that he had to cock the hammer of the gun to rotate the cylinder so he could load the gun and, while doing so, the hammer fell, discharging the gun.
Tullis was shot on the inside of his left leg, above the knee. He was treated at Kosciusko Community Hospital and released. Authorities said the wound was not severe.
