Making Choices

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

Yes, Mr. Obama, we are painfully aware that the campaign is over. We are living with the results every day. We watch the big, bloated government mentality, the spend-your-way-out-of-recession agenda, the idea that if millions wasted is good, trillions must be better, and use of the philosophy that if the power of persuasion doesn't work, implement the persuasion of power.

We're living the health care takeover, the government's decision that they have the right to select, manage, and control our health care without our consent. And for that privilege, we watch the best healthcare system in the world ruined, and the quality of care lost or drastically lessened.

We see a bunch of unqualified "cost effective" pencil pushers in Washington making every decision for us, and for our physicians, neutered in their ability to take any course of action unless the big calculator gives its consent for care and services.

But, ultimately, power, abuse, greed and corruption come with consequences. And for that privilege, we are eternally grateful.
