Final plans are complete for the Inaugural Magical Derby, a benefit for the Magical Meadows, therapeutic horseback riding center for adults and children with special needs, and will take places Saturday at Toyota of Warsaw.
“This new and exciting event will really put the ‘fun’ in fundraising,” according to Tina Rice, chair for The Magical Derby. “LCA Signature Shows from Cleveland, Ohio, will bring their show, a night at the races, complete with video horse racing to Toyota of Warsaw for one night only, May 5th. This is the same night as the Kentucky Derby and we will have our own version right here in Warsaw.”
Each race has a corporate sponsor and race winners will be given a chance to win donated prizes. Even losers of races will be given a chance to win prizes through the use of a Losers Bucket. Horses of each race can be “purchased” prior to the race and “owners” of the winning horse will receive a Derby Trophy and a special photo opportunity.
Along with the horse racing, a Derby Hat Contest will take place using a penny vote format to determine the winners.
“We can’t wait to see what kind of hats our Derby Divas can come up with,” Tina Rice says, “and with Win, Place and Show awards on the line, it’s going to be fun!”
The Sleepy Owl Super Club from Syracuse will offer a Derby-inspired buffet dinner, cash bar and guest will also receive a complimentary taste of a Mint Julep. Fun Derby wear is requested.
“This night is all about being able to experience the feel of the derby while at the same time supporting the mission of The Magical Meadows and our special needs community,” concluded Rice.
Post time for The Magical Derby will be 5:30 p.m. for social hour, The Kentucky Derby Viewing at 6:30 p.m., dinner at 6:45 p.m. and entertainment at 7 p.m.
