Sizzlin' Sam of MadScience Spectacular visited Pierceton Elementary recently. The students were fully engaged as Sizzlin' Sam demonstrated a variety of scientific principles in an amazing display of scientific splendor. Students learned about the Bernoulli Principle through balls balancing in the air and toilet paper flying across the audience; experienced a dry ice fog storm while learning about the physical and chemical properties of dry ice; learned the necessary ingredients for fire and combustion while being thrilled with loud explosions; and watched a foam factory at work while viewing catalyzed peroxide decomposition. Pictured is fifth-grader Alyssa Babcock helping Sizzlin' Sam with a demonstration of combustion that produced a loud 'BOOM!' The program was brought to Pierceton Elementary by the Whitley Forward Initiative.
