Madison Red-White Night Set Thursday

Madison Elementary will have its own version of the NCAA basketball tournament Thursday night.

Staff of the Warsaw school will challenge parents in a basketball game during the "Madison Red-White Night". Doors open at 6 p.m., with the game tip-off at 6:30 p.m. in the school gym. Admission is $1.

"It's just something to get everyone happy and excited before sending them off to spring break," said teacher Kris Hueber.

This is the second year for the event at Madison. Hueber said they hope they can make it an annual event.

Besides the basketball game, students will have the chance to shoot free throws for prizes. At half time, students will get to dance with the mascot. A raffle will be held for students to get to sit on a couch along the sidelines. Hueber said there will be many other activities, too, such as a dunk contest.

Besides Hueber, other teachers and staff playing in the basketball game will be Kevin Lancaster, Principal Jacob Hoag, custodian Kevin Engle, Max Ketrow, Tori Reneker, Gail Rathbun, Gina Courtois, Carmen Elliot, Jamie Byron and DARE officer Doug Light.

Teachers and spouses also will serve as cheerleaders and event night helpers.

"It's just a spirit night," said Hueber.
