Madison Learns About Producers & Consumers

Posted

Madison Elementary second-grade students from the classes of Mrs. Walker, Mrs. Hagg and Mrs. Christoffel went on a field trip Thursday to examine the relationship between producers and consumers. In the morning, they visited Tom Farms, and then went to Marsh’s supermarket where they purchased items for Warsaw Community Schools’ ‘Boomerang Backpack’ program to ‘enrich the lives of others.’ The program supplies food to underprivileged children over the weekend through the school system in a backpack that is returned on Monday to be refilled the next Friday. The program was started at Warsaw Community Schools by corporation nurse Tracey Akers and now Warsaw Community High School seniors Connor Singrey and Alek Jansen, as part of their Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy project. At approximately 1:25, the second-grade students met with the backpack program coordinators at Marsh to give them their donations.
