The Madison Elementary School Sixth Grade and Under chess team, coached by Jay Bolduc, placed third at the state team competition March 27 in Terre Haute. Madison was one of 32 teams that were competing for the title. Those 32 teams qualified from a pool of approximately 125 teams that participated at the regional competitions throughout the state. Teams members are Corbin Sloan, Samuel Bolduc, Leo Medina, Noah Pollnow and Gage Cutler. The Third-Grade and Under team fared well, too. Out of 43 teams, the Madison Third and Under A team placed 17th while the B team placed 20th, both in the top half of the state. Pictured are some of the chess team members and their awards.
