The Mad Anthony Brewing Co. should be open for business sometime in December, according to Blaine Stuckey, who appeared before the local alcohol and tobacco commissioners Thursday.
Stuckey requested the permit be renewed for a second year. He has kept the board advised about the business venture that will bring a version of the popular Fort Wayne pub and microbrewery to Warsaw at 113 E. Center St.
Final sale of the building was in August, Stuckey said, and construction has been ongoing to meet a December opening date.
Beer, wine and liquor renewals were granted to Service Liquors, 3720 Lake City Highway, Warsaw; and to Pizza Hut, 3314-1/2 US 30 East, Warsaw, despite violations of being open during the February special school board election.
The violations were deferred by the state, meaning fines will be waived for a year. The violations will be removed from the businesses' records if there are no further violations in a year.
Commissioner Elim Smith said the local election board was supposed to give the Alcohol Beverage Commission in Indianapolis a 60-day notice of the election so the state commission could publish a legal advertisement 30 days prior to the special election. This did not happen.
The legal advertisement appeared less than a week prior to the election.
Many establishments within the political precinct were open during election hours that day and excise officers found them in violation.
Some establishments paid the fines associated with being open that day and others waited to hear from the state.
A new beer, wine and liquor license was issued to DDK Enterprise LLC doing business as The Turf, 118 S. Main St., Milford. The business already has a "two-day" permit for beer and wine, which will be set aside for six months.
Ownership of JD's Roadhouse, 1360 W. Center St., Warsaw, is returning to Donald Sparks, doing business as Sparkies.
Wayne VanCuren said he would manage the business until a new buyer can be found. The beer, wine and alcohol permit was renewed at the same time the transfer was approved.
