Mabel V. Ruch, 89, of Winona Lake, died at 8:40 a.m. March 23, 2009, in Grace Village Healthcare Center, Winona Lake.
She was born March 20, 1920, in Warsaw, to Fred and Trecie Ross Fancil. On Feb. 29, 1940, in Warsaw, she married Fred L. Ruch, who died July 11, 2007.
A homemaker, she could make the best cakes and cherry pies around. She spent a lot of time helping her sons with school work and athletics when they were young. She helped with the accounting and phone service for her son, Glen at Glen's Wrecker Service, Warsaw. She also worked at Penguin Point, Warsaw. She was a Warsaw High School graduate. She enjoyed square dancing and helped organize Star Twirlers and set up square dances. She was a member of the Airstream Club and also held various offices in the club. She could knit anything and enjoyed making outfits for square dancing and round dancing. She enjoyed playing the piano so much she had a piano at home and one in their camper. She only went fishing with Fred when she had to on the Minnesota fishing trips with their son Larry and his wife Diane. She enjoyed skiing and boating and traveling with her son Glen.
Surviving are two sons, Larry (and spouse Diane) Ruch, Rochester, and Glen Ruch (and Denise Ayers), Warsaw; a sister, Ignota Lemler, Blue Springs, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Audrey Fancil, Warsaw; four grandchildren: Rodney (and spouse Jodi) Ruch and Robin (and Derek Murphy) Davenport, all of Kokomo; Steve (and spouse Carrie) Ruch, Mechanicsville, Va.; and Dawn (and spouse Joe) Morrison, Philadelphia, Pa.; and nine great-grandchildren: Taylor, Colan, Ryndee and Dalton Ruch; Frank, Josephine and Charles Morrison; Zoie Davenport; and Wyatt Murphy. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Danny Earl, and four brothers, Donnie, Harrold, Morice and Robert Fancil.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Nelson Beer officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
