M-TEMS Offering CPR Program

Posted
Multi-Township EMS is offering lessons on how to perform “hands-only” CPR at the Kosciusko County 4 H Fair from 3 until 9 p.m.
Multi-Township EMS has developed the One Heart “Hands Helping Hearts” Program to teach bystanders CPR. The goal is to train 5,000 people in CPR this year. As of July 1, Multi-Township EMS has taught 1,600 people so far.
Hands-only CPR focuses on the first few minutes after cardiac arrest because the lungs and blood contain enough oxygen to keep vital organs healthy for that amount of time.
Chest compressions provide the blood flow needed to improve survival chances until paramedics arrive on the scene, according to a press release from M-TEMS.
Citizen CPR is a fast-growing movement to empower bystanders to save a life when someone suffers sudden cardiac arrest. M-TEMS is glad to partner with the American Heart Association, fire departments and Kosciusko Community Hospital to bring sidewalk CPR into local communities.
