Luella P. Adams

COLUMBIA CITY — Luella P. Adams, 97, Columbia City, died at 5:50 p.m. Feb. 22, 2017, at her home.
She was born Oct. 20, 1919, in Noble County, a daughter of Scott and E. Mildred Ritter Rider. Her formative years were spent in Noble County. She graduated from Wolf Lake High School in 1937.
On Feb. 24, 1939, she was united in marriage to C. Vernon Adams. They made their home in Noble County until 1944, when they moved to Etna Troy Township, Whitley County. Mr. Adams died March 27, 1992. In 2006, Luella moved to Oak Pointe.
A homemaker, she also worked at Blumenthals for a few years.
She was a member of Etna United Methodist Church, where she was pianist for many years.
Surviving relatives include three children: Sandra (spouse Gerry) Wiley, Columbia City; Terry (spouse Vicki) Adams, Larwill; and Judith (spouse Steven) Mundy, Columbia City; seven grandchildren: Don (spouse Renee) Wiley, Sonya Wiley, Seth (spouse Lindsey) Adams, Dawn O’Connor, Amy (spouse Dana) Brown, Neal (spouse Charlene) Bell and James Bell; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sharlene Davis, Fort Wayne.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded by three brothers and a sister, Warren Rider, Gilford Rider, Nelda Fetters and Royce Rider.
 The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Wilmot. 
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
