Lucy Whiteneck, 96, of 314 W. Winona Ave., Warsaw, died at 7:05 p.m. April 28, 2009, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
She was born Dec. 3, 1912, in Crawfordsville, to William and Nancy Hall Martz. On May 28, 1932, in Leesburg, she married Jack Whiteneck, who died in 1971.
A lifetime resident of Leesburg and Warsaw, she was a 1930 Leesburg High School graduate. She was a member of Warsaw Arts and Crafts Club; American Legion Auxiliary Post 49, Warsaw; Rozella Ford Bridge Club; and Rozella Ford Golf Course, Warsaw. She was a 40-year member of Rozella Ford Golf Course 9 Hole Association and a 50-year volunteer for the American Red Cross. She was a volunteer Gray Lady at Murphy Medical Center, Warsaw.
Surviving are a son, Bruce Alan (and spouse Ruth) Whiteneck, Warsaw; a grandson, Brian Alan (and spouse Karman) Whiteneck, Warsaw; a granddaughter, Tara Alana (and spouse Michael) Schaeffer, Warsaw; six great-grandchildren, Davin, Karlie, Braiden, Haley, Tristin and Ethan, all of Warsaw; and a sister, Treva Hoffer, Palmetto, Fla. She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Don Locke officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
