WILKESBORO, N.C. - The Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse under way at the corner of U.S. 30 and Ind 15 is expected to employ 175 to 200 people.
According to Lowe's representative Melissa Simmons, the new store is a $15 million investment. The 150,000-square-foot retail facility also will feature a 28,000-square-foot lawn and garden center and will hold more than 40,000 stocked items.
Lowe's is in the midst of a $2 billion expansion plan, the most aggressive in the company's 54-year history.
Currently in Indiana there are 22 stores open that employ more than 3,800 Hoosiers.
Across the country there are 600 Lowe's stores in 39 states. They are the nation's 15th largest retailer.
