Susan Kaye Owens, 51, of 1316 Rivercrest Drive, Warsaw, died along with her husband on Jan. 3, 2009, from injuries suffered in a plane crash in Grainger County, Knoxville, Tenn.

She was born Jan. 17, 1957, in Warsaw, to Harry and LeVara Smith Snyder. On Nov. 26, 1993, she married Lowell Thomas Owens.

A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, she was a billing clerk at Warsaw Family Practice and Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. She was an active member of Celebration Church, Winona Lake. She was owner of a small business, Home and Garden Interiors. She and her husband hosted four exchange students with the E.F. Foreign Studies Program. She was an avid race car fan, loved the outdoors and camping and was dedicated to loving her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are a son, David (and spouse Tracy) Owens, Warsaw; two daughters, Julie (and spouse Jason) Pogue, Warsaw, and Susan (and spouse Cesar) Chacon, Yorkville, Ill.; her mother, LeVara Biddinger; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father.

Lowell Thomas Owens, 64, of 1316 Rivercrest Drive, Warsaw, died along with his wife on Jan. 3, 2009, from injuries suffer in a plane crash in Grainger County Knoxville, Tenn.

He was born Jan. 17, 1944, in Matamoras, Pa., to Francis and Inez Kathryn Bullock Owens. On Nov. 26, 1993, he married Susan Kaye Snyder.

Living in Kosciusko County for 27 years, he was a certified public accountant who founded Owens & Co. P.C. accounting firm, Warsaw, in 1981. He was a private pilot, receiving his license in 2006. He graduated from Bob Jones University and George Washington University, where he received his master's degree. He was an accountant for the federal government, Detroit, Mich., and Washington, D.C. In 1981, he moved to Warsaw and was a professor at Grace College for a year, then starting his own accounting firm. He was an accountant for the Kosciusko County Fair Board and began serving on the Kosciusko Community Hospital Board in 1995. He served on the Health Care Foundation of Kosciusko County from 1995-2007. He was a board member of the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce and a member of Warsaw Kiwanis Club and Warsaw Flight Club. He and his wife hosted four exchange students with the E.F. Foreign Studies Program. He was an active member and treasurer for Celebration Church, Winona Lake. He was an avid race car fan and loved camping.

Surviving are a son, David (and spouse Tracy) Owens, Warsaw; two daughters, Julie (and spouse Jason) Pogue, Warsaw, and Susan (and spouse Cesar) Chacon, Yorkville, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers: Norman (and spouse Jackie) Owens, Monroe, Ga.; Robert (and spouse Betty) Owens, Newark Valley, N.Y.; and Martin Owens, Lewisville, Texas; and a sister, Nancy (and spouse Mel) Rainier, San Diego, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Their service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Pastor Cindy Gackenheimer officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
