Lowell 'Dutch' Conrad

NAPPANEE - Lowell "Dutch" Conrad, 87, of 12063 N. CR 1000W, Nappanee, died at 3:50 p.m. Feb. 14, 2008, in Bremen Community Hospital.

He was born Feb. 2, 1921, in Scott Township, Kosciusko County, to Edward C. and Cora Miller Conrad. On June 12, 1943, in Eaton Town, N.J., he married Darlene J. Haney, who survives.

A lifetime area resident, he was a school bus driver, farmer and truck driver for Nappanee Milling Co. He did experimental welding for Boeing Aviation Corp. He graduated from Etna Green High School. He took correspondence classes for aeronautical engineering. He was a member of the World War II Army Signal Corp, serving in New Dehli, India.

Surviving are two sisters, Opal Jones, Bourbon, and Julia White, Etna Green. He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and a sister.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hepton Union Church, Nappanee, with the Rev. Eric Eickhoff officiating. Burial will be in Hepton Union Cemetery.

Calling is from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
