Warsaw will play host to an up-and-coming country music star during the annual Kosciusko County Community Fair thanks to a donation from a new local company.
Jason Michael Carroll will play at the grandstand July 9 at 7 p.m. LouisDreyfus Agricultural Industries LLC of Claypool donated $7,500 to sponsor the show.
"On behalf of myself and LouisDreyfus, I'd like to say we are excited about being in Kosciusko County," said Jeremy Mullins, commercial manager of LouisDreyfus. "We appreciate the support from the community, and we are excited to be a part of the community. We want to help in any way we can. We are excited to bring an up-and-coming young talent to the county."General admission tickets for the show are $5 and free for children under 5. Tickets go on sale June 1 and may be purchased at the fair office in Warsaw, the Neon Armadillo in Fort Wayne and the Al-Bar Ranch in Mishawaka.
Carroll, a 28-year-old crooner from North Carolina, is the son of a preacher who was not allowed to listen to anything but Christian music until he started working in a motor shop.
He got his big break when he won a karaoke contest, and then was asked to join a country band as its lead singer.
After his run with the band came to an end, he sang anywhere and everywhere before signing with Arista Nashville, where he worked with artists like Rob Thomas and Jewel.
Currently, his single "Alyssa Lies," a song about child abuse from a classmate's perspective, is making a name on the country charts.
Other songs on Carroll's album include "Honky Tonk Friends," "Lookin' A You," "Sad Old County Song," "Love Won't Let Me," "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead," and "No Goodbye in Goodbye," a duet with Jewel.
While Carroll will entertain the crowd in the grandstand July 9, other events are scheduled the week of the fair as well.
On July 11, the demolition derby will feature a powder puff class, outlaw class and pickup truck contest. The derby begins at 7 p.m.
The Northern Indiana Pullers Club Garden Tractor Pulls will be in the grandstand July 12 beginning at 7 p.m.
July 14 is the semi truck show and shine from 7 a.m. to noon. Live entertainment at the truck show will feature Joey Holiday, Nashville recording artist.
Once again, the grandstand also will be home to two nights of truck pulls July 13-14. The pulls begin at 7 p.m. each night.
All events in the grandstand require paid admission.
