Louis L. Snyder, 79, of Warsaw, died at 11:53 p.m. Oct. 6, 2012, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born Feb. 22, 1933, in Warsaw, to James E. and Mary Finton Snyder. On Sept. 19, 1952, in Warsaw, he married Gwenlyn Gawthrop, who survives.
He entered the U.S. Army April 8, 1953, in Indianapolis, and served during the Korean War. CPL Louis Lowell Snyder was honorably discharged April 7, 1955, in Fort Carson, Colo.
A lifetime Warsaw resident, he was a self-employed building contractor. He was a collector of hit and miss engines and anything John Deere. A woodworker, he built cabinets and large doll houses for Nicole and Jessica. He was into antique restoration.
Also surviving are a daughter, Linda (and spouse Jeff) Sweatland, Anderson; two sons, Kevin Snyder, Warsaw, and Randall (and spouse Lora) Snyder, Terre Haute; four grandchildren: Joshua (and spouse Kristen) Sweatland, Oviedo, Fla.; Cpt. Jacob (and spouse Hillary) Sweatland, Fayetteville, N.C.; and Jessica and Nicole Snyder, both of Terre Haute; three great-grandchildren, Jackson, Kennedee and Madelyn; three sisters: Rosetta Kunce, Cromwell; Joyce Latta, Warsaw; and Phyllis (and spouse Loren) Munson, Claypool; and Molly, his golden retriever. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip Snyder, who died Feb. 22, 1987, and Leonard Snyder, who died in 1936.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, officiated by the Rev. David Hummel of Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw, and with military honors by members of Warsaw’s American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 1126.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
