Warsaw Fire Department's ladder truck is used to help extinguish Wednesday's predawn fire at Louis Dreyfus at 7344 S. Ind. 15, Claypool.
Claypool Fire Department got the initial call and was assisted by Silver Lake and Warsaw. Firefighters were on the scene for about two hours this morning. The fire was reported at about 6:30 a.m. today, according to Fire Chief Bob Haines.
He said the fire was “in a tank that contained parts of byproducts of biodiesel fuel.” He said the fire was not a danger to the public. The Warsaw Fire Department’s ladder truck was used because the fire was 75 to 100 feet up and the truck was the only way firefighters could reach it. “It took us over two hours to get it under control. All of it was contained in that silo,” Haines said.
He did not have a damage estimate for the fire, but said it caused “a lot of significant damage” to the structure.
