Editor, Times-Union: Recently, I became aware of some disheartening information dealing with the upcoming loss of a GREAT doctor in Warsaw, at KCH. In 2010 I was diagnosed with two different types of breast cancer. It was terrifying news and immediately my family and I began looking for the best care that I could receive to extend my life. As a family we researched different doctors and cancer centers; I needed a trustworthy and knowledgeable doctor, a caring and compassionate doctor with good communication skills and a working staff of nurses that were dependable, attentive and understanding. I found ALL of this with Dr. M. Goksel right in the city of Warsaw. I learned recently that the community of Warsaw will be losing this wonderful doctor. Cancer is a serious disease, not the flu or chicken pox. It has taken years for Warsaw to get an Oncologist Hematologist of the caliber of Dr. Goksel and now the hospital is not renewing his contract. I really DON’T know all the reasons as to why he is leaving, but I do know this: KCH cannot afford to lose Dr. Goksel! The community of Warsaw and all his patients cannot bear his loss and I refuse to let him go without my stated opinion. I hope that all of Dr. Goksel’s patients and colleagues will speak up on his behalf. I also ask that the hospital and the KCH Board review and reconsider this devastating loss to present and future cancer patients in our area. It is not too late to remedy this horrible loss because he, Dr. Goksel, is still in town. Shirlee Ann Clevenger Winona Lake, via e-mail
