Lorri Ann Brookins, 48, of Montgomery, Ind., went to be with the Lord on June 26, 2025, at her home surrounded by family and her fur babies.
Lorri was born to Connie Vetor Brookins Young and Darrell Brookins on June 29, 1976, in Goshen.
Lorri grew up in Leesburg and lived in that area most of her life. Lorri moved to southern Indiana in the later portion of her life and loved the slower pace of life, living in her home and living by a nature preserve.
Lorri is survived by her sister, Amanda Brookins Bibler (brother-in-law, Brad Bibler); stepdad, James Young; niece, Hannah Murphy; stepmother, Barbara Freel; nephew, Mason Kral; best friend, William Waltz; and cousin, Jaime Carlson.
Lorri was preceded in death by her mother, Connie Young; her father, Darrell Brookins; her aunt, Kay Heckaman; her uncle, Jeffrey Heckaman; ex-husband, Josh May; and both sets of grandparents.
Lorri was a graduate of Warsaw Community High School (1994). Lorri went on to study and utilize her skills as a medical assistant at Indiana Business College (2002), as an accredited chef at Vincennes University (2020) and as a business administrator at Vincennes University (2021).
Lorri worked at Central Christian church in Washington, Ind. Lorri was passionate about her faith and the congregation she was a part of. She considered everyone family and the congregation considered her family.
Lorri enjoyed being an administrative assistant and took pride in everything she did for the church and her community. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her through her work at the church.
Lorri was passionate about animals and will be missed by her puppy dog Girdie, all her kitty cats and all the neighborhood animals.
Lorri was also passionate about plants, gardening and nature. Lorri had a beautiful garden that will miss her touch every year.
Lorri was a chef and loved cooking, especially for her family and extended family. Lorri loved sports, especially the Packers. GO-Pack-Go.
Lorri will be deeply missed by family, friends, fur babies and everyone she encountered in her life.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 6 at 2 p.m. EST at Central Christian Church, 10 W. Van Trees St., Washington, IN 47501.
A celebration of life will be held in Leesburg later.
Memorial services for Lorri in northern and Southern Indiana will be planned at later dates.
