ROCHESTER – Lorine Aldine Keele, 91, formerly of Tiosa, passed away at 6:05 p.m. Nov. 27, 2011, in Life Care Center of Rochester.

She was born June 15, 1920, in Wolcott, to John and Mary Shotts Schmidt. On Oct. 15, 1939, in St. Charles, Mo., she married Charles Albert Keele, who died July 2, 1984.

A loyal member of the Tiosa Brethren Church for more than 50 years, she also was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society of the church. She retired from Hart Schaffner & Marx after 27 years, as an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed word searches and reading of all types but especially novels of romance.

As the matriarch of the family, she was proud to oversee four generations. Her kitchen was a buzz during the holidays and special family celebrations.  At the top of the menu, as requested by her family on Sundays, was her special fried chicken. She is well remembered for her dessert fare of pumpkin and ice cream pies, cherry delight and angel food cake topped with pineapple fluff. She loved and cherished the many good times she enjoyed with her family, as being a mom and grandmother was the best part of life.

Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Swick, Plymouth, and Sandy (and spouse Tom) Alber, Woodburn; five sons: Ron Keele, Rochester; Jim (and spouse Carol) Keele, Warsaw; John (and spouse Catherine) Keele, Concord, N.C.;  Richard (and spouse Diann) Keele, New Haven; and Mike (and spouse Linda) Keele, Freemont; 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren plus one due to arrive in February. She was preceded in death by her parents;  a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Keele; two sisters; and a brother.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester, with the Rev. Larry Stutzman officiating. Burial will be in Richland Center Cemetery.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
