MENTONE – Loretta Hurd, 62, of 5715 W. Quail Road, Mentone (Palestine Lake), died at 9:30 p.m. April 18, 2012, in Mason Health and Rehabilitation, Warsaw, after being in failing health since 2005.
She was born June 25, 1949, in Martin, Ky., to Henry and Nona Ousley Bradley. On July 3, 1965, in Pierceton, she married James H. Hurd Sr., who survives.
She had worked at Mason Health and Rehabilitation, Miller’s Merry Manor and Big Boy Products, all in Warsaw. She was an active member of Palestine Bible Church and attended Ancilla College. She loved gardening, knitting and sewing and was a family person.
Also surviving are a daughter, Lori (and spouse Jeff) Owens, Silver Lake; a son, Jason (and spouse Jeannie) Hurd, Palestine, Ohio; eight grandchildren: Alisha Pattison, James, Christapher, Taylor, Hope, Kaclyn and Abigail Loretta Hurd and Zachary Owens; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leo (and spouse Mary Sue) Bradley, Royal, Ky., and Travis (and spouse Mary Lou) Bradley, Peru; and four sisters: Renis (and spouse Arthur) Baldridge, Pierceton: Biddie (and spouse Harold) Reffitt, Fulton; Arville (and spouse Don) Slone, Warsaw; and Mimia (and spouse Monroe) Howard, Printer, Ky. She was preceded in death by two sons, James H. Hurd Jr. and Marcus Crit Hurd; four brothers; and two sisters.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Full Gospel Pentecostal Church, 108 E. Sycamore St., Silver Lake, with Pastor David Callighan officiating. Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery.
Calling is from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the church.
