SAVOY, Ill. – Lois Wilcox Myette, 95, passed away Aug. 1, 2015, at Champaign County Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 10, 1919, in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., to Edward and Corda Wilcox. On Aug. 27, 1941, she married her childhood sweetheart, the Rev. Philip Edmund Myette, who preceded her in death in February 2014. They served on pastorates in New York and Maine for 23 years and shared 72 years together. She graduated from Chesbrough Seminary in North Chili, New York, in 1939 with a degree in bookkeeping. She was a pastor’s wife who took her job seriously and was actively involved in the church through music and ministries to women and children. She had the gift of hospitality and entertained often. She loved to encourage and minister to others. She shared her love of music with her family teaching each of her children to sing. She became a Christian at an early age and served her Lord faithfully until the end of her life. After moving to Winona Lake, she worked at the Free Methodist World Headquarters in the Women’s Missionary Society and the General Missionary Board. In retirement, she and Phil helped build churches in Florida and Arizona and served as ministers of visitation at the Free Methodist Church in Winona Lake. Survivors are, three children: Karen (and spouse Michael) Doty, Oxnard, Calif.; Barbara (and spouse Paul) Benson, Anacortes, Wash.; Philip (and spouse Linda) Myette, Greenville, Ill.; five grandchildren: Richard (and spouse Christina) Edmonds, Oxnard; Rachel (and spouse Jim) Killinger, Dunlap, Ill.; Melinda (and spouse Marcus) Kephart, Anacortes, Wash.; Steven Benson, Indianapolis; and Benjamin (and spouse Katie) Myette, Brighton, Ill.; and 12 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Pearl Myer and Alice Robinson. A family celebration will be held in September with burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
