STUART, Fla. – Lois Jean Nelson Claassen, 84, of Fort Pierce, Fla., died Nov. 14, 2012, in her residence. She was born in Exira, Iowa. She married Richard Claassen, who preceded her in death. She had been a resident of Fort Pierce since 1983, coming from Etna Green. Prior to retirement, she was a homemaker and taught in a one-room school in Iowa. She was a member of Indian River Presbyterian Church, Fort Pierce, and the Gideons. Surviving are two sons, James Claassen, Fort Pierce, and Keith Claassen, Etna Green; a daughter, Dawn Purcell, Round Rock, Texas; a sister, Joyce Lutz, Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She also was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and a sister. Services will be at noon Tuesday at Indian River Presbyterian Church, Fort Pierce. A reception will follow the service at the church. Calling is from 11 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church.
