MISHAWAKA – Lois J. Gnass, 86, of South Bend, formerly of the Warsaw area, died July 12, 2012, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
She was born Sept. 29, 1925, in Michigan City, to Corby and Florence Teets Burnett. She married George Gnass, who died April 21, 1961. Her companion, Kenneth DeWar, died Feb. 17, 1998.
She was a waitress who worked in restaurants in the southern Michigan and northern Indiana area. She and Kenneth were managers of mobile home parks throughout a few of the selected states of the United States. She was a member of Living Stones Church, South Bend.
Also surviving are seven children: George (and spouse Sharon) Gnass, Cynthia (and spouse Larry) Wilt, Barbara (and spouse Victor) Barone, Linda Culp and William “Bill” Needham, all of Mishawaka; Georgia (and spouse John) Tibbitts, South Bend; and Jerraly (and spouse Roger) Stark, LaPorte; and a brother, Robert (and spouse Beverly) Burnett, Michigan City. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bubb Funeral Chapel, Mishawaka, with Sam Barrington officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and one our prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home
